ITANAGAR, Feb 21: Some 28 trainees took part in the first batch of Training and Demonstration programme imparted by the Horticulture Department at Mushroom Development Centre, Itanagar here today.
Several training programmes on mushroom cultivation have been conducted earlier also in Itanagar, aiming to promote sustainable agriculture and entrepreneurship among the local communities.
Director Horticulture, Loki Ering while advising the trainees said, emphasis should be given to hands-on training rather than theoretical knowledge. While reflecting on the growing interest in mushroom cultivation in the region, Ering informed it offers valuable income generation and therefore advised the participants to take away maximum skills and knowledge from the training programme.
Earlier, MDO Rumro Sorum, informed Mushroom Development Centre imparts such trainings in 5 batches, this being the first batch of this year. Other trainings will be conducted in Balijan,
Dolumukh, Sagalee etc., in the days to come.
Sorum also emphasised the nutritional benefits of mushroom and discussed cultivation techniques on Oyster Mushrooms and its growing demand in the market in the technical session.
There was presentation on identification, types, varieties, basics of mushroom cultivations and block preparation by JM Yage Pari.
