Koloriang, Sep 9 : The Roll Observer for Kurung Kumey district, Nyali Ete, Commissioner, Home and IPR, arrived in Kurung Kumey and held a series of interactions with the District Administration, Booth Level Officers (BLOs), Booth Level Agents (BLAs) and representatives of various political parties. Representatives of political parties apprised the Observer of various issues and concerns relating to the electoral roll revision process.
The Roll Observer gave due consideration to the issues raised and stressed the importance of close coordination and active participation of all stakeholders for ensuring that the electoral roll remains accurate, comprehensive and inclusive. He emphasised that the electoral roll is a fundamental component of the democratic process and that every eligible citizen should have the opportunity to be duly represented in the electoral roll.
As part of his ongoing tour of the district, Ete is also visiting Nyapin, Sarli, Damin and Parsi Parlo to interact with local stakeholders and officials and to obtain first-hand information about the ground situation in these areas.
During his visit, Nyali Ete also took stock of the functioning of the district police and reviewed the overall policing arrangements in Kurung Kumey. He visited the Police Station at Koloriang and interacted with police officials regarding the functioning of the station, law-and-order preparedness and the challenges involved in maintaining effective policing.
The Roll Observer also inspected the ongoing construction of the Women Police Station at Koloriang and took stock of the progress of the work. He emphasised the importance of strengthening police infrastructure and ensuring that the facilities being created are responsive to the needs of the people, particularly women and vulnerable sections of society.
The visit of the Roll Observer is part of the ongoing efforts to ensure effective implementation of the SIR electoral roll revision process and to strengthen coordination among the administration, political parties and other stakeholder to facilitate a transparent, inclusive and citizen-oriented electoral process in Kurung Kumey district.
