ITANAGAR, Sep 9: The 138 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has organised a basic tailoring skill development training programme at Chimpu here as part of its Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2026-27, officials said on Wednesday.
The eight-day training, held from September 1 to 8, was organised for local youths and villagers living in the area of responsibility of the battalion, with an aim to promote skill development, self-employment and livelihood opportunities.
The closing ceremony was attended by 138 Bn CRPF Commandant Rajesh Sankhla, IMC supervisor Heri Kaku, Upper Primary Amorjyoti School headmaster Hangthian Tekwa, besides local representatives and villagers.
Officer Commanding Nengsuanlal welcomed the guests and trainees at the programme.
Addressing the participants, Sankhla appreciated their participation and encouraged them to utilise the skills acquired during the training to explore self-employment opportunities, generate income and support their families.
He said the CRPF regularly conducts welfare and skill development initiatives based on the requirements of local communities.
As part of the programme, four sewing machines with pedestal stands and stools were distributed among the beneficiaries. Tailoring accessories, including threads, scissors, measuring tapes, tailor chalk, machine needles and hand-sewing needle sets, were also provided to help them continue tailoring work independently.
Local representatives appreciated the CRPF's efforts towards community welfare and skill development.
The paramilitary force said such initiatives were aimed at promoting self-reliance among local communities while strengthening its bond with the people.
