Ziro, Sep 9: The Tribal Artisan Empanelment Mela (TAeM) was organised for the first time at the Golden Jubilee Conference Hall, District Secretariat in Ziro. The landmark initiative aimed to provide tribal artisans with direct access to national and international market avenues while preserving traditional regional craftsmanship.
The event was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Oli Perme as Chief Guest, alongside DRCS Hage Komo as Guest of Honour. Executive coordination for the program was led by Asif Ekbal Hussain, Senior Programme Executive, and Prabha Choudhury, Assistant Manager, who worked in collaboration with local officials including Dani Yamang, ARCS and Takhe Tado, Managing Director of Subansiri LAMPS. Around 20 local tribal artisans participated in the mela, showcasing a diverse range of traditional handlooms, handicrafts, and organic agricultural products.
The primary objective of the event was to register local producers with TRIFED, allowing them to market their goods nationwide through exhibition platforms and Tribes India commercial outlets. Beyond long-term market access, the initiative promotes tribal culture, indigenous cuisine, and traditional skills while delivering direct financial benefits to participants.
During the event, artisans were guided through the registration process and instructed to submit required documentation, including a valid Scheduled Tribe certificate, Aadhaar card copy, bank passbook copy, passport-size photographs, and physical product samples. Participating artisans received a lump-sum Travel Allowance of ₹500, with additional payments for procured sample products to be credited directly to their bank accounts following evaluation.
