Deomali, Sep 9: The celebration of the 9th Rashtriya Poshan Maah under ICDS Project Namsang was launched at Soha, in convergence with the ArSRLM, Health Department, Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRI), and Education Department. The programme was organised around the central theme “Hamari Anganwadi, Hamari Jimmedari”.
Pakkar Nomuk, CDPO, ICDS Project Namsang, highlighted the objectives of the celebration of the 9th Rashtriya Poshan Maah and briefed the gathering about its various themes. He particularly emphasised the importance of enrolment of eligible beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY). He informed the gathering that ₹5,000 is provided to an eligible mother for the first living child, while ₹6,000 is provided for the second child, subject to the scheme’s eligibility conditions, when the second child is a girl.
Dr. P. Monwagham, Medical Officer, Health Centre, Soha, addressed the gathering on the importance of dietary diversity and balanced nutrition.
Wikhin Songthing, GPC, Soha, appreciated the initiative and appealed to the public to actively participate in such programmes for promoting better health and nutrition and for the overall well-being of the community.
Tasso Rinnya Doji, Block Mission Manager, ArSRLM, Deomali, highlighted the importance of consuming locally available vegetables and fruits as an affordable and nutritious source of food for maintaining good health among villagers.
The programme concluded with a food-tasting and demonstration session, during which khichdi and other nutritious food items prepared using locally available ingredients were sampled.
The programme conveyed the important message that proper nutrition, dietary diversity, and healthy food practices are essential for the growth, development, and well-being of children and mothers.
