Deomali, Sep 9 : A coordination meeting on the effective implementation of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026 was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Tana Bapu, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Deomali.
The meeting was attended by representatives of concerned departments and stakeholders involved in solid waste management and environmental protection in the Deomali area.
During the meeting, the Member Secretary delivered a PowerPoint presentation highlighting various aspects of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026. The presentation covered the salient features of the Rules, the present status of solid waste management, gap analysis, key challenges, and the proposed action plan for effective implementation.
The discussions focused on strengthening coordination among the concerned stakeholders and ensuring strict adherence to the provisions of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026. Emphasis was also laid on improving waste management practices and promoting greater public awareness and participation.
In his concluding remarks, ADC, Deomali, urged all concerned to ensure strict compliance with the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026 and work collectively towards achieving better sanitation and environmental sustainability.
He further called upon all stakeholders to make concerted efforts to transform Deomali into a plastic-free zone, stressing the need for responsible waste disposal, reduction in the use of single-use plastics, and active participation of the community in keeping the area clean and environmentally sustainable.
