ITANAGAR, Mar 15: The Arunachal Pradesh Trade Union Federation (APTUF) organized a dharna cum mass meeting today, demanding the fulfilment of its eight-point charter of demands here on Saturday.
Speaking to the media, APTUF Secretary General Kenkar Yomcha highlighted the plight of contingency and casual labourers, work-charge employees, and ALCs, urging the government to take immediate action.
He further added that the federation is pushing for an increase in the relieving age for contingency and casual workers, along with ALCs, to 60 years. We are also demanding an enhancement in grade pay for work-charge employees and the creation of additional posts in engineering works departments. The regularization of workers who have completed 15 years of service remains a major concern, along with the demand for implementing a "Golden Handshake" scheme, providing ₹10 lakh as a financial settlement. Additionally, APTUF is advocating for the recognition of May 1st as a gazetted holiday in honour of International Labour Day.
The mass meeting witnessed strong participation from workers across various sectors, all united in their call for better job security, financial stability, and government intervention in addressing their long-standing issues. The federation has appealed to the authorities to respond positively and fulfil their demands at the earliest.
