Namsai, Feb 11: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, graced the 9th Convocation of Arunachal University of Studies (AUS) as the Chief Guest today. The event, held at the university campus in Namsai, marked a significant milestone for the master’s degree/post graduating students, celebrating their academic achievements and future aspirations.
In his address, Chowna Mein lauded the collective efforts of the graduates, their families, mentors, and the AUS community. He emphasized the transformative role of education in shaping the future and urged them to leverage their knowledge for the progress of Arunachal Pradesh and the nation.
He commended AUS for its remarkable contributions to academic excellence, research, and community development. "What started as a humble institution has now become a beacon of education, boasting a dedicated faculty and a growing reputation for fostering young talent," he remarked. He acknowledged the university’s role in nurturing young minds while contributing to the local economy by generating employment and supporting community growth.
The Deputy Chief Minister shared his vision for transforming Namsai into an educational hub with the planned establishment of a medical college and a fisheries college, expressing optimism about the region's growth as a center for learning. Addressing key challenges such as climate change and drug abuse, Mein highlighted the responsibility of educated youth in spearheading solutions through innovative thinking and sustainable development initiatives. He encouraged the graduates to remain rooted in their cultural heritage while striving for excellence in their professional endeavors.
Acknowledging the unwavering support of parents, families, and mentors, Mein said, "This day is not just a celebration of your success but a testament to the dedication and sacrifices made by your loved ones."
The event also witnessed the inauguration of a Moot Court at Arunachal University of Studies, Namsai, aimed at enhancing practical legal education for students.
A key highlight of the convocation was the conferring of Doctor of Literature (D.Litt.) Honoris Causa award to Padma Shri Dr. Rajnikant for his exceptional contributions to women empowerment, artisan livelihoods, child rights, and skill development. Former BJP National Secretary, Sunil Deodhar was also conferred the D.Litt. Honorary Award for his remarkable contributions to social work.
Several esteemed dignitaries were present at the event, including MLA Namsai Zingnu Namchoom, former Bhutan MP Dupthob Yangstep, AUS Chancellor Kamal Lochan, Pro-Chancellor Vishva Lochan, Vice Chancellor Prof. D.S. Hernwal, Registrar Divyanshu Goel, Padma Shri Anshu Jamsenpa, National Teacher Awardee 2024 Jyoti Panka, Prof. Ajeya Jha, DC Namsai Shri C.R. Khampa, SP Sange Thinley, faculty members, parents and students.
