BORDUMSA, Apr 24: In a significant breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, the Changlang district police launched Operation Dawn, leading to a major heroin bust and the arrest of a female drug peddler in the Bordumsa circle on Thursday.
Acting on reliable intelligence, a team from Bordumsa Police Station, under the leadership of Inspector Tomai Wangpan, conducted a swift and strategic search at the residence of Junmoni Singpho (32) in Wagun-I village. The operation, carried out in the presence of Suraj Gurung, ADC Bordumsa, resulted in the recovery of 44 soap cases filled with suspected heroin, weighing approximately 494.31 grams.
Police also seized `1,95,900 in cash from the premises, believed to be proceeds from the illegal sale of narcotics.
The anti-drug team included officers L/SI Techi Sumnya, SI (SG) RN Payeng, SI (SG/Dvr) M. Wangno, ASI (SG) Saitong Singpho, HC (SG) Ongseng Singpho, L/CT Padma Kimsing, CT Alex Hakhun, and CT Timin Hakhun.
A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Bordumsa Police Station, and further investigation is underway to trace the supply chain and identify other possible suspects.
The Changlang police reiterated their resolve to eradicate the drug menace from the region and called on the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their locality.
