ITANAGAR, Feb 25: The Confederation of Service Associations of Arunachal Pradesh (CoSAAP) has strongly condemned the recent abduction and assault of two government employees in Mechuka, along with the incident involving TRIHMS Director Moji Jini. The association has urged the state government to ensure a fair and swift investigation in both matters.
Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, CoSAAP president Likha Tech denounced the attack on engineers in Mechuka as “inhuman” and called for strict action against those responsible. He also warned against giving the incident a communal angle, stressing the importance of justice and unity.
“We must allow the law to take its course and ensure an impartial investigation. No community should be unfairly targeted for the actions of a few individuals,” Tech stated. He further appealed to the community-based organisations, particularly the Galo Youth Organisation (GYO) and the Galo Students’ Union (GSU), to reconsider their call for an economic blockade, highlighting its negative impact on innocent residents of Shi-Yomi district.
Speaking on the recent altercation involving TRIHMS Director Moji Jini and former youth leader Byabang Joram, CoSAAP demanded an impartial inquiry into the matter. “We condemn any form of violence against our members, but if any of our members are found guilty after investigation, they must face the consequences as per the law,” Tech added.
He also clarified that the word "ransom”, which appeared in CoSAAP’s earlier press statement regarding the TRIHMS Director and Byabang Joram’s incident, has been withdrawn. The term was initially used based on reports from ground assessments, added CoSAAP while stating that there was no intention to tarnish anyone’s image.
To ensure a transparent and unbiased investigation into the February 5 episode, CoSAAP has appealed to the government to constitute a one-member fact finding committee, headed by either a Deputy Commissioner, a sitting judge, or a retired judge.
