ITANAGAR, Jan  31:  The Capital Police have issued an important advisory addressing the recent circulation of rumours about a drug called “strawberry quick” or flavoured methamphetamine, allegedly being distributed to school children disguised as candy. The hoax, claiming the drug comes in various flavours like strawberry, chocolate, and grape, has caused alarm among parents and guardians.
The police have clarified that this claim is a long-standing internet hoax that first emerged in 2007 in the United States. Despite widespread circulation of the rumour, law enforcement agencies, including the DEA, have confirmed that there is no credible evidence or verified incidents of flavoured drugs being used to target children.
In response to these false reports, the Capital Police urged parents, educators, and the public to remain vigilant but not to panic or share unverified messages.
The police are encouraging responsible sharing of information, especially on social media platforms and messaging apps like WhatsApp. To ensure safety, they  appealed the  denizens to educate children to never accept unknown substances or candy from strangers or even familiar faces, Verify any alarming claims or messages before sharing them online and report suspicious activities to school authorities or the nearest police station.
For any credible concerns regarding drug-related activities, the public is encouraged to contact the Capital Police at 112. This advisory aims to keep the public informed and ensure that rumours do not unnecessarily create fear in the community, stated capital police in its advisory.
