ITANAGAR, Feb 17: Arunachal Frontier Tribal Front (AFTF) Chairman Tadak Nalo has called for a boycott of the upcoming Statehood Day celebrations, accusing the state government of failing to deliver justice to the victims of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) job scam.
Nalo slammed the government for allowing those arrested in the scam to roam freely, with charges yet to be framed against them. He also highlighted the tragic deaths of whistleblower Gyamar Padang and officer Tumi Gangkak, who lost their lives, yet justice remains elusive.
Though the government has worked on some demands of the APPSC Joint Steering Committee, but there are still some genuine demands pending, justice to those aspirants whose dreams were shattered due to the scam are still pending, said Nalo. He added instead of giving punishment to corrupt officials, the state government reinstated them in the department after their failure and lackadaisical attitude towards the case.
“The government has betrayed the youth of Arunachal. Those responsible for the scam are still free, while victims and their families continue to suffer. We urge the people to boycott Statehood Day in protest against these false promises,” Nalo stated.
The APPSC job scam, which surfaced in 2022, exposed large-scale corruption in the recruitment process, leading to public outrage. Despite multiple arrests, no significant action has been taken to hold the culprits accountable.
AFTF has also announced an agitation on February 18 to remind the state government of its unfulfilled promises and demand immediate justice for  the APPSC cash-for-job scam.a
