Itanagar, Feb 16: The Arunachal Chamber of Commerce & Industries (ACCI), has pressed on its earlier meeting with the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh to discuss the representation submitted to the government regarding the significant loss of revenue incurred by the State Government. The discussion focused on the impact of vehicle procurement from outside the state by construction companies, which has led to substantial losses in SGST revenue. ACC&I President, Tarh Nachung emphasised the need for measures to support local automobile dealers and retain revenue within the state to foster economic growth and development.
ACCI and All Arunachal Pradesh Motor Vehicle Dealer Association (AAPMVDA) have raised concern on the losses of substantial SGST amount to the state exchequer due to procurement of vehicles from outside the State by construction companies. This revenue loss impacts the State's ability to fund various development projects and services.
As per the records of AAPMVDA, the dealers are collectively contributing approximately Rs.90-100 Crore to the State exchequer through SGST. With over 3,000 employees in the sector, it's evident that the automobile industry is a vital part of the local economy. However, the trend of construction companies procuring vehicles from outside the state is concerning as it undercuts the local dealers' business and, consequently, the economic benefits to the state.
He has urged the State government to consider the proposed measures, which would go a long way in increasing GST revenue for the state government, supporting local entrepreneurs in the automobile and allied industries, and boosting the local economy.
