NAMSAI, Feb 23: In the wake of the recent boycott of Statehood Day by individuals belonging to the Moran Community in Lekang, a delegation of the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) met with the Deputy Commissioner Namsai and submitted a representation demanding urgent legal action against the individuals allegedly involved in anti-state activities and unlawful protests in the district.
AAPSU expressed grave concern over the boycott of the Statehood Day celebrations and unauthorised demonstrations staged by a group of individuals. The student body condemned these actions as a direct attack on the sovereignty and integrity of Arunachal Pradesh, stating that they were orchestrated with malicious intent to disrupt peace and create unrest.
During the meeting, AAPSU demanded legal action against individuals like Manoj Kumar Moran, Hurojit Moran, Bogen Baruah, Sujit Moran,Sarat Neog, Bimal Neog, Deny Moran and Kushal Moran all allegedly responsible for organising and participating in the disruptive activities.
The union also alleged that these individuals incited anti-state sentiments, spread misinformation, and attempted to disturb public peace by boycotting the official Statehood Day event and engaging in unlawful protests.
“Statehood Day is a historic and significant occasion marking Arunachal Pradesh’s journey of progress and development. The deliberate boycott of such an event is an insult to the people and their forefathers who fought for the state’s identity. Such actions raise serious concerns about external influences attempting to destabilise the state,” the representation stated.
AAPSU further pointed out that the protests were conducted without proper authorisation, leading to public inconvenience and fear among residents. The union warned that such actions have the potential to fuel communal tensions and disrupt the state’s peace and unity.
The union has strongly urged the state government to invoke the Arunachal Pradesh Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (APUAPA) and other relevant legal provisions to investigate, arrest, and prosecute the individuals involved. The union emphasised that taking strict action is necessary to prevent similar anti-state activities in the future.
