BISWANATH, Mar 22: Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Minister Gabriel D. Wangsu attended the closing ceremony of the training on fisheries under "Catch Them Young" programme at Pabhoi Fish Farm in Biswanath Charali, Assam.
The three-day skill development program, held from March 20-22, marked the completion of a larger initiative that trained 336 farmers across seven batches.
Minister Wangsu, who oversees Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Fisheries, Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs and Food & Civil Supply, made a tour of the training centre took firsthand insights of the training quality, facilities and explore future courses.
Adressing the valedictory programme, Wangsu encouraged participants to use their newly acquired skills and take the program seriously, mentioning that additional initiatives like on cold water fisheries are being planned.
"Specialized training is crucial for improving our state's agricultural sector. I've invested great hope on all of you," Wangsu told participants. He noted that other farmers are receiving training in piggery and cattle breeding at different facilities, and promised support to dedicated farmers.
“The state government is deeply concerned for the young an educated youth and cannot afford to leave them unemployed, and hence this Catch Them Young programme to create a pool of trained farmers,” the minister said and added that this programme is a visionary initiative by the state government aimed at training unemployed youth of the state to become self-relient in various sectors including fisheries, horticulture, piggery and other farming activities.
The minister further stated that the department will monitor thesuccess and activities of each trainee and mayextend hand-holdings and help in accessingstate and central schemes.
The event was also attended by Hage Tari, Secretary of Fisheries, J. Taba, Director and other officers of the Fisheries Department; Dr. Kaustubh Bhagawati from College of Fisheries, Raha; and Bhargav Kr. Bhagawati and Biren Bhagawati from Pabhoi Fish Farm.
Participants from various districts shared their experiences and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to gain valuable skills through this government initiative designed to help unemployed youth become self-reliant in fisheries and other agricultural sectors.
The training took place across three farms: Madhu Kalya Aquatic Farm in Seajuli, Pabhoi Green Pvt. Ltd., and Pabhoi Fish Farm, which represents a significant investment in building capacity for sustainable fisheries practices across Arunachal Pradesh.
