DC inaugurates school amenity
Roing, Nov 25: A one day consultative workshop cum orientation on “Gender-Based Violence and Discrimination - Nai Chetna 3.0: Ending Gender-Based Violence” was conducted on Monday by the District Mission Management Unit (DMMU), ArSRLM, Roing.
The session featured resource persons Inspector Bharti Mingki (APP, Civil) OC Crime Branch, Kalik Perme from WCD, Advocate Bahe Mickrow from DLSA, Senior Gynecologist Dr. Ista Pulu and Mrs. Desai Linggi from Nani Maria Society.
Block Mission Manager Nekuk Pertin shared an introduction to the Gender Campaign. Kalik Perme from the WCD Department provided detailed information about the One Stop Center and Women Empowerment initiatives. He also elaborated on the various schemes available for women.
Inspector Bharti Mingki shared insightful learning about the three new criminal laws introduced in 2024, aimed at ensuring justice and protection for women and children. She provided a very clear explanation about the rights of women, the protection of children, and the relevant sections.
Advocate Bahe Mikrow provided insights on Legal Aid for Women and Child Development. If any confusion arises he invited everyone to visit the DLSA office and assured that they will clear the doubts.
Senior Gynecologist Dr. Ista Pulu provided insights on the health education of women and children. He discussed the precautions and measures women need to take during pre-pregnancy, the care required post-pregnancy, and how these aspects are related to gender-based violence. He also highlighted the impact of violence on women’s health, including its contribution to infant mortality rates, and explained the broader implications of such violence.
Mrs. Desai Linggi (Chairperson of Nani Maria Society) shared her field experience regarding gender-based violence. She explained the functions and support provided by the One-Stop Center, the available helplines, and the procedures for reporting such incidents.
All the participants actively engaged during the open discussion session and clarified their doubts with the resource persons. The programme concluded with a gender pledge led by Hage Mary(DTC IBCB).
