CHANGLANG, Jan 30: In a significant breakthrough, the Changlang District Police with the assistance of the 9 Assam Rifles and Nagaland Police, arrested Raju Chakma, a resident of Bijoypur-III in the Bordumsa Circle of Changlang District, Arunachal Pradesh.
Raju Chakma, who had been evading authorities for an extended period, was apprehended in Jalukie, located in the Peren District of Nagaland. He had been living under the false identity of Ngulkogin Singson and was wanted in connection with serious criminal activities, including the alleged recruitment of around a dozen individuals into a banned underground militant group.
A criminal case under Section 113(4) of the BNS Act, 2023, was registered against Chakma on August 7, 2024, following a formal complaint regarding his involvement in subversive activities. Acting on intelligence inputs, law enforcement agencies successfully tracked him down and executed the arrest.
During the operation, police seized a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition from Chakma, including an AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and 45 live rounds of ammunition. Additionally, two mobile phones were recovered, which are believed to contain critical evidence related to the ongoing investigation.
Authorities have confirmed that further investigations are underway to uncover the full extent of Chakma’s activities and any potential links to other individuals or organizations. The successful operation marks a major step in ongoing efforts to curb unlawful activities in the region.
