Development begins in villages: Governor
LONGDING, Nov 7: State’s Agriculture and Allied Minister, Gabriel D. Wangsu chaired a District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) meeting at Longding Headquarters on Thursday, focusing on the progress of ongoing developmental projects, implementation of centrally sponsored schemes and addressing challenges hindering their execution.
The day-long meeting, which brought together senior administrative officers and heads of departments, prioritized a problem-solving and result-oriented approach to accelerate development in the district.
Minister Wangsu laid particular stress on the physical presence of officers at work sites to ensure strict conformity with project specifications and quality standards. He underscored that timely completion of important developmental projects is vital for the district's overall progress and the welfare of its residents.
A significant portion of the meeting was devoted to the effective implementation of Atma Nirbhar Yojanas in the Agriculture and Allied Sectors. The Minister highlighted that accurate identification of genuine beneficiaries is central to the success of these self-reliance programs. Officers with technical expertise, he said, must play a proactive role in selecting progressive farmers and Self-Help Groups (SHGs). Heads of Departments were directed to conduct regular field visits, engage with ArSRLM teams, and interact directly with farmers to identify eligible participants.
Wangsu also instructed line departments to ensure that all beneficiaries are properly enrolled under Central and State insurance schemes and social assistance programs. Officials noted encouraging progress in enrollments but stressed the need for sustained efforts toward universal coverage.
The meeting further emphasized the identification and development of tourist hotspots within Longding District to harness its tourism potential and promote local economic opportunities.
The monitoring-cum-review meeting was marked by its practical approach to problem-solving. While interacting with the house, Minister Wangsu took note of challenges including shortage of manpower and inadequate infrastructure faced by various departments.
Expressing serious concern over land disputes hampering development projects, Shri Kunal Yadav (IAS), Deputy Commissioner of Longding District, urged executing agencies to strengthen coordination with administrative officers. He emphasized the need for consultative meetings with all stakeholders to expeditiously resolve land-related bottlenecks that continue to delay crucial infrastructure projects.
The DC also directed officers from executing agencies and utilizing departments to maintain frequent consultation, ensuring that completed infrastructure does not remain underutilized or dormant after construction.
Petty but persistent issues such as lack of proper record-keeping, inadequate inter-departmental coordination and unclear role specifications that were causing project delays were resolved by the Chairman through in-house consultation and clear directives.
The meeting was attended by Shri Yashwant MeenaIAS, ADC Kanubari, Shri Rakesh Kumar Rai APCS, ADC Longding, Admin Officers, HoDs and officers & officials of different line departments.
Later in the day, Minister Wangsu inspected several ongoing construction projects at Tewai, personally reviewing progress and ensuring that developmental works meet quality benchmarks and timelines.
