WAKRO, Jan 13: Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Chowna Mein, today inaugurated the Parshuram Kund Mela, Monumental National Flag and the Parshuram Kund Guest House, on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti at the sacred pilgrimage site of Parshuram Kund on the banks of the Lohit River.
The Parshuram Kund Mela and Monumental National Flag wasinaugurated along with Lieutenant General Abhijit S. Pendharkar, AVSM, YSM, General Officer Commanding 3 Corps. Describing the Tricolour as a powerful symbol of unity, sacrifice, and national pride, Chowna Mein said that its installation at Parshuram Kund reflects the sacred union of Bharat spiritual heritage with national identity, particularly in this strategically important frontier region.
Highlighting the spiritual significance of Parshuram Kund, the Deputy Chief Minister stated that the site is deeply associated with the penance of Lord Parshuram and has for centuries been a place of faith, purification, and renewal. He said that inaugurating the National Flag and the Mela during the sacred festival reinforces the message of unity, devotion, and collective responsibility towards the nation.
The Deputy Chief Minister paid tribute to the Indian Army for conceptualizing and executing the Monumental Flag project, noting that the initiative reflects the India Army’s commitment not only to safeguarding the nation’s borders but also to nation-building through inspiration and service. He recalled the historic Battle of Walong and the strong bond between the Indian Army and the people of Arunachal Pradesh.
Mein also inaugurated the Parshuram Kund Guest House, terming it an important step towards strengthening pilgrim infrastructure at the revered site. He stated that the new facility will provide comfortable accommodation to devotees and visitors, while contributing to local employment and promoting sustainable spiritual tourism in the region.
Reaffirming the State Government commitment to balanced development, the Deputy Chief Minister emphasized that all developmental activities at Parshuram Kund are being undertaken with due respect for religious sanctity, cultural heritage, and environmental responsibility.
Mein expressed heartfelt gratitude to Kamala Ratansey Maskai for her generous contribution towards the installation of the Monumental National Flag, describing it as a noble expression of love and reverence for the nation.
The programme was attended by Major General R. S. Chandel, GoC 2 Mountain Division, MLAs Dr Mohesh Chai, OkenTayeng, Puinnyo Apum, Hamjong Tangha, and Oni Panyang, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Lohit Basanlu Delang, Deputy Commissioner Lohit K N Damo, senior officers of the Indian Army, and a large number of devotees participating in the Parshuram Kund Mela.
The inauguration of the Monumental National Flag, the Parshuram Kund Guest House, and the Parshuram Kund Mela on the sacred occasion of Makar Sankranti marked a moment of deep spiritual and national significance, reinforcing the values of faith, unity, and national pride at one of Bharat most revered pilgrimage sites.
The Deputy Chief Minister also offered prayers to BhagwanParshuram, seeking peace, harmony, and well-being for all.
