Itanagar, Jan 15: A State-Level Workshop on the Career Guide Book and “My Career Advisor” Mobile Application was successfully conducted on 13th and 15th January at the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Itanagar, with the objective of strengthening career guidance and counselling support for students across the state.
The workshop was organised to familiarise vocational education teachers and education stakeholders with the newly developed Career Guide Book and the My Career Advisor App, which are designed to help students make informed decisions about their academic and career pathways. The programme focused on enhancing awareness about diverse career options, skill requirements, and future opportunities aligned with students’ interests and abilities.
Expert resource persons from SCERT, Suman Das from UNICEF, Karnal Santosh Kumar from Wadhwani Foundation, Dr Pinki Khanna and Prof. Pankaj Mehta from PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education, Bhopal conducted comprehensive sessions on the structure and utility of the Career Guide Book, Implementation of 10 Bagless Days, My Career Advisor App and recommendation of NEP 2020 & NCFSE 2023 with respect to vocational education. A live demonstration of My Career Advisor App was also conducted by Prof. Pankaj Mehta, PSSCIVE, Bhopal showcasing its features such as career assessments, guidance modules and easy accessibility for students and educators.
Nabam Shelly, State Project Coordinator (Vocational Education) highlighted the status of Skill Education in the govt. schools of the state. He also encouraged the participants to impart their duties with dedication and utmost positive zeal.
D Y Ringu, Deputy Director, SCERT emphasised that the initiative aims to empower teachers to act as career mentors/counsellors and guide students effectively, especially at the secondary and higher secondary stages. The interactive sessions allowed participants to clarify doubts, share experiences, and discuss strategies for integrating career guidance into regular teaching-learning processes.
