NAHARLAGUN, Dec 8: In a major breakthrough, Naharlagun Police recovered a four wheeler (TATA Yodha) vehicle stolen from Model Village, Naharlagun, and apprehended three individuals involved in the crime during an interstate operation conducted with the assistance of Assam Police.
The theft occurred on the night of December 6 last, prompting the vehicle owner to lodge a complaint at Naharlagun Police Station. Following the complaint ,a case was registered under Case No. 147/24 U/S 305(b) BNS, and police immediately began investigations.
CCTV footage revealed three suspects stealing the vehicle. Using the footage to trace the vehicle's route and gathering inputs from local sources, investigators tracked the stolen vehicle to Bangalmara in Assam.
Acting swiftly, a joint team comprising Naharlagun Police and Laluk Police in Assam launched an operation. The Naharlagun team, led by Inspector K. Dev and supported by SI S. Hodong, ASI T. Sarke, HC I. Ngomdir, Ct K. Lai, Ct Sanu Raaj, and Ct K. Samyor, worked under the supervision of SP Naharlagun, Mihin Gambo, and SDPO Naharlagun, Rishi Longdo. Their efforts were bolstered by the Laluk Police team led by SI Milton Borgohain.
The operation led to the arrest of three suspects namely Md. Samirul Islam (22), Md. Alauddin (24), Md. Habijul Ali (27). All three accused hail from Besapati Karunabari village under Laluk Police Station in Lakhimpur, Assam. The stolen TATA Yodha vehicle was successfully recovered and secured.
The SP Naharlagun Mihin Gambo has lauded the cooperation and prompt assistance of the Assam Police, which proved crucial in the operation. The recovery of the stolen vehicle and the apprehension of the suspects showcase the efficiency and dedication of law enforcement agencies in tackling cross-border crimes, stated a release.
