ITANAGAR, Jan 25: The second edition of the Kibithoo Vibrant Village Runsafari, featuring 10km and 5km runs, was successfully held on the scenic yet challenging hilly terrain of Kibithoo in Anjaw district on Saturday.
The event, which started from the ITBP’s 25th battalion unit camp in Kibithoo, was organized to celebrate National Tourism Day, pay tribute to the valour of the Indian Armed Forces and encourage a healthy lifestyle with the message “Say No to Drugs.”
The race was jointly flagged off by 6 Kumaon (Jangi) commandant Col Ravi Panwar, ITBP 25th Battalion commandant Deonath Ray, deputy commandant Jagmohan Bishwakarma, 6 Kumaon (Jangi) Subedar Major Kishan Singh Bisht and Meyor Welfare Association (MWA) president Tashi Tsiring Meyor.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from approximately 159 individuals, including members of the armed forces and residents from Kibithoo, Kaho and Walong villages.
Organized by the Kolkata-based sports tourism management company Real Sports India, also known as Sportive, the event was supported by the Ministry of Tourism (NE office), the state’s department of tourism, the Anjaw district administration, the 25th Battalion of ITBP and the 6 Kumaon (Jangi) regiment.
In the 10km male category, Mukesh Singh emerged as the winner, followed by Pawan Rana and Bhagwat Sha. The 5km male category saw Narendra Singh taking the top spot, with Ravindra Singh and Virendra securing the second and third positions, respectively. In the 5km female category, Kusum Gogoi clinched first place, while Changmu Meyor and Parwati Khamba took the second and third positions.
All participants were presented with exclusive race T-shirts and medals, while the winners received trophies and prizes during the closing ceremony.
The event concluded with a commitment from the organizers to host the next edition on a larger scale and broader scope.
