PASIGHAT, Dec 9: Minister Commerce & Industries,Textiles & Handicrafts, Nyato Dukam who is on a two-day visit to East Siang District, today visited Elam Industries and its Textiles incubation centre at Industrial Estate, Pasighat here. The Minister was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Tayi Taggu, SP Pankaj Lamba, Entrepreneur Likha Maj and DD Industries (DDI) Mahtsam Jamoh, DD ( Sericulture) G. Riba , ADTH Libang Perme among other officials.
The Minister during his visit to the various sections of the facility for handloom and power looms units of Elam Industry lauded the initiative of “vocal for local and make in Arunachal products” and reiterated the contribution of the textiles sector in employment generation and creating livelihood opportunities for the skilled weavers and artisans of the state.
Dukam informed that the Industry scenario of Arunachal Pradesh and NER region is set to see a transformation through the central UNNATI scheme for fostering economic growth and supporting innovative entrepreneurs of the state for sustainable economic growth of the state. he urged the innovative entrepreneurs to register under UNNATI scheme of GoI and also stressed the focus of the state government for skill development.
The Minister was also apprised on need for cluster development for local women weavers to tap the rich traditional expertise and for their economic empowerment.
During his visit to the various facilities, the Minister was briefed by entrepreneur Mohonto Panging Pao, on the various manufacturing processing aspects informing that Elam Industries set up in 2015 is the first and largest textiles industry in the state is catering to consumers with both readymade and ethnic garments with affordability and good quality and currently employing around 150 people. He sought government support towards promoting and supporting local industries like preferential purchase for local products so as to ensure that there is no economic drain to other states.
Speaking on the sidelines, Dukam who is also the IPR Minister spoke on the inclusive nature of the Industry Policy supporting budding media and local film industry.
