ITANAGAR, Dec 1: The Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society of Arunachal Pradesh (IFCSAP) celebrated Indigenous Faith Day on Sunday with a vibrant showcase of cultural and traditional events, coinciding with the silver jubilee of its foundation. The occasion also marked the launch of IFCSAP’s official website, aimed at promoting and preserving indigenous culture and faith.
Addressing the event held at Rono Hills, Home Minister Mama Natung emphasized the importance of safeguarding cultural heritage and identity, underscoring the pivotal role of ancestral sacrifices in shaping the present.
He highlighted the deep connection between tribal communities and nature worship, urging the youth to harmonize modernity with traditional values. Natung also announced plans to establish Gurukuls across districts in phases, reaffirming the state government's dedication to preserving tribal society.
Doimukh MLA Nabam Vivek echoed similar sentiments, calling upon the people to honour fading traditions and preserve their roots as a tribute to ancestral legacies.
“Fading traditions are echoes of our ancestors; preserving them enriches our future,” Vivek remarked.
As part of the celebrations, Natung flagged off five IFCSAP youth groups tasked with touring various districts to promote indigenous faith and culture.
IFCSAP president Emi Rumi used the platform to share that the association had submitted a memorandum to the chief minister’s office, seeking to rename the Department of Indigenous Affairs as the Department of Indigenous Faith and Culture Affairs.
"Despite repeated efforts, the request remains pending, but we remain optimistic," Rumi stated.
The winners of the IFCSAP anthem competition were also announced during the event, with Tadar Chahung taking first place, followed by Dr. Taro Sundik and Techi Kuku. The launch of the official website was hailed as a milestone in advancing the organization’s mission.
The celebration saw participation from prominent figures, including RK Mission Hospital secretary Swami Vedsaranandaji, government officials, and local leaders.
