Itanagar, Dec 19: One-day State Orientation on Zero Dose Implementation cum Implementation Action Group (IAG) review meeting was conducted at Itanagar today, The objective of the training was to orient and equip 12 GAVI District with in-depth knowledge of on Zero Dose Implementation plan aiming for 30% reduction of Zero Dose children by 2026.
Ira Singhal, Secretary (H&FW) expressing her disappointment with the district performance in achieving full immunization, raised concerns about underperformance of some Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHAs). She questioned how ASHAs could gather accurate date on pregnant women, full immunization and institutional delivery if they do not visit every household within their designated area. Emphasizing the need to strengthen the ASHAs performances, she firmly directed the DRCHO and MO RI of 12 Global Alliance for vaccine and Immunization (GAVI) District of Arunachal pradesh to adopt a strategic approach and actively address them to improve immunization coverage. Given the relatively small population of Arunachal Pradesh, achieving full coverage should be feasible with focused effort, Singhal said. She further emphasized engagement of PRI members and use of religious place as key platform to enhance immunization.
Dr Pradeeep Halder, Senior Expert (Health care sustainability), UNDP while presenting informed that zero dose plan is a strategy aimed at identifying and reaching children who have not received even a single dose of essential vaccine. These children are often located in underserved, marginalised or hard to reach area. He further stated zero dose coverage children are those who lack the first dose of the Diptheria-Tetanus- Pertussis containing vaccine DTP1.
Dr Supratim Biswas RPA UNDP, highlighted the role of Universal vaccine identification number portal (UWIN). The UWIN online portal platform is designed to track individual vaccine doses, ensuring no duplication and tracking and facilitation tracking of vaccine to administration coverage.
Dr Padung SIO NHM giving an overview of GAVI third phase of health system strengthening, said ‘we need to scale up the UWIN data entry.’ Representative from supporting partners including UNDP SPO, WHO SMO, UNICEF Consultants and JSI were also present.
