Itanagar, Dec 12: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.) reviewed the implementation of the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) in the State with the State Health Commissioner Pawan Kumar Sain at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar on Thursday. He discussed the special 100-day campaign announced by the Prime Minister recently.
The Governor advised multi-pronged efforts, including doubling patient support, use of technology and better diagnostic tools and exploration of newer drugs. He insisted that the special 100-day campaign must be a mass movement in the State.
The Governor, who has adopted several TB patients from seven districts of the State to motivate people to join the Ni-kshay Mitra scheme, which is a part of the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (PMTBMBA), called upon the political leadership, government officials and community leaders to adopt TB patients. He said that with the collective effort of all Arunahali, the State can eliminate tuberculosis (TB) from the State by 2025.
Parnaik appealed to the concerned medical officials to reach out to the affected people and start treatment as soon as possible. He said that as the State population is comparatively very low, the medical fraternity of the State will be able to achieve ‘TB Mukt Arunachal’.
The Governor also appealed to corporate houses to participate in the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) like the Corporate and business houses of other States in providing crucial support to TB Patients.
