Itanagar, Sep 20: In a significant development, the Joint Action Committee (JAC) for the Postal Department Fiasco, has uncovered instances of illegal issuance of local language certificates to non-Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe (APST) candidates, allegedly aimed at securing jobs in the Postal Department.
Chairman JACPDF Kipa Kanam, revealed that a certificate was wrongfully issued to a non-APST individual by the Upper Subansiri District Administration. Following immediate protests from the JAC, the Deputy Commissioner swiftly cancelled the fraudulent document. In another case, a local language certificate was reportedly issued to Monish Barkat Ali by the Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) in Mebo, East Siang. After confirmation from EAC, we filed an FIR against the alleged person. Though the EAC has denied any involvement or issuing any documents, JAC will look thoroughly into the issues and examine the same.
“We have been fighting for this issue for months. After much pressure, the central government agreed to adopt local language as a key criterion for Postal Department jobs in Arunachal Pradesh . We won’t tolerate any irregularities or fake certificates being issued,” Kanam stated.
He also urged student organizations and local authorities to remain vigilant against such practices, emphasizing that those found involved in issuing fake certificates will face serious consequences.
The JAC has vowed to continue its efforts to ensure fair hiring practices in the Postal Department and protect the rights of the APST community, he added.
