DC inaugurates school amenity
Tawang, Nov 25: Dr. Maxwell Trevor, the Athlete Commissioner of the Cycling Federation of India (CFI), has hailed Arunachal Pradesh as a prime destination for cycling events. Speaking on the potential of the state, he highlighted that Arunachal’s natural terrain and the innate adaptability of its youth to the environment make it a strong contender for international cycling accolades, including Olympic medals.
Dr. Trevor emphasized the untapped talent in the region, attributing the challenges to a lack of infrastructure and training facilities. “Arunachal has many talented individuals. However, they haven’t had the right opportunities due to insufficient infrastructure. The terrain here is perfect for cycling, and the youth, naturally connected to their environment, possess inherent skills. All we need is to tap their talent, train them, and provide the necessary facilities,” he remarked.
As a testament to Arunachal’s potential, Dr. Trevor highlighted the success story of Ginjing Tari, a young cyclist from the state. Tari clinched a gold medal at the National Cycling Championship held in Tamil Nadu. His talent was identified and nurtured at an early age, showcasing what can be achieved with the right support and training.
In an effort to further boost cycling in the region, CFI organized National Cycling Championship (High Altitude) – MTB Tawang, for the last seven years and this year it will commence on 25th November, added Dr, Maxwell.
