ITANAGAR, Dec 15: The Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Combined Competitive Examination (APPSCCE) 2024 prelims were successfully conducted today in two sessions, with aspirants appearing for Paper-I (General Studies) in the forenoon session and Paper-II (CSAT) in the afternoon session. The examination marked another step forward in ensuring transparency and fairness in the recruitment process, said Secretary APPSC, Parul Gaur Mittal (IRS),
Speaking to the media this evening, the Secretary stated there were 22731 aspirants who had applied for the exam and as per the preliminary reports; around 17286 aspirants took the exam that's 76.04 % of total aspirants who have appeared in the forenoon session, and in the afternoon session 17009 that is 74.08%.
The prelims were held across 87 venues in 18 districts of Arunachal Pradesh, she added while stating that the Commission prioritised smooth and transparent conduct of the examination, introducing several new measures to enhance security and instill confidence among aspirants.
One of the significant changes this year was the introduction of a new OMR sheet with three copies, one of which was handed over to candidates to take home. This initiative has been widely appreciated as a step toward greater transparency. Additionally, the use of jammers at every examination venue and biometric attendance for all candidates further ensured a secure and fair examination process.
Secretary APPSC also added that, to maintain the integrity of the exam, sensitive materials were handled under strict supervision, with coordinators—senior government officials—personally overseeing their movement. Enhanced security measures, including tamper-proof envelopes, one-time locks, and continuous surveillance under cameras, were implemented. At each venue, packets of question papers were opened in the presence of candidates, with two aspirants serving as witnesses to the process.
The Commission also set up a 24x7 control room to address any issues or queries raised during the examination. Despite minor incidents, including a candidate taking away their entire OMR sheet and another instance where a PwBD candidate was found with a mobile phone, the Commission ensured that strict action was taken, including the cancellation of candidature for those involved.
Provisional answer keys will be released on the Commission's official website from the evening of December 16 to the morning of December 18, allowing aspirants to challenge any discrepancies. The result preparation process will begin immediately thereafter, with the Commission aiming to publish the results within the week.
Expressing satisfaction with the successful conduct of the examination, Secretary Parul Gaur Mittal conveyed gratitude to all officials, exam functionaries, and others involved in the process. She reiterated the Commission’s commitment to maintaining fairness, transparency, and efficiency in its recruitment processes.
Meanwhile, she informed that a PWD candidate was caught with a mobile phone inside the hall, and another aspirant left the hall without submitting the OMR sheet. The commission is taking these two incidents very seriously and will take strong action against misconduct.
