ITANAGAR, Jan 7: The Arunachal Frontier Tribal Front (AFTF) has alleged significant irregularities in the recently declared results of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Combined Competitive Examination (APPSCCE) [Preliminary] 2024. In a detailed representation to the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC), AFTF called for immediate corrective measures to ensure fairness in the recruitment process.
AFTF highlighted a critical discrepancy regarding the shortlisting of candidates for the Main Examination. It claimed that, according to the APPSC advertisement issued on October 10, 2024, candidates qualifying for the Main Examination should be 12 times the number of advertised vacancies. With 140 vacancies announced, this would mean 1680 candidates should have been shortlisted. However, only 1658 candidates made it to the list, leaving 22 eligible candidates excluded. The Front urged the APPSC to rectify this issue by releasing a corrigendum to include the omitted candidates, especially as the dates for the Mains have already been announced.
The AFTF also raised concerns over the qualifying criteria for the CSAT (Paper-II). It questioned the unusually low number of candidates who cleared this paper and claimed that cross-verification of the official answer keys revealed a higher number of candidates meeting the qualifying threshold. AFTF demanded clarity from the APPSC regarding the exact number of candidates who passed the CSAT paper.
Adding to the concerns, AFTF pointed out confusion regarding the cut-off marks for General Studies (Paper-I). Many candidates who were confident of their selection based on their performance in the paper found themselves excluded from the shortlist. The organization called for transparency in the cut-off marks to address these grievances.
Further, AFTF flagged the handling of incorrect questions, the allocation of grace marks, and the compliance with the 80:20 recruitment ratio, which reserves 80% of vacancies for Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe (APST) candidates and 20% for non-APST candidates. It sought detailed data on category-wise selections and cut-off marks to ensure adherence to the policy.
