DC inaugurates school amenity
TAWANG, Nov 26: The 7th Edition of MTB-Tawang, one of India’s most esteemed mountain biking events, concluded on a high note, drawing national and international cyclists to the breathtaking landscapes of Tawang. Organized by the Arunachal Cycling Association under the aegis of the Cycling Federation of India (CFI) and sponsored by the Department of Youth Affairs, the event showcased both the athleticism of its participants and the beauty of the region.
The competition was part of the CFI’s Calendar Championship and aimed at promoting cycling at the grassroots level while identifying potential Olympians. Cyclists braved Tawang’s challenging terrains, displaying extraordinary skill, resilience, and endurance throughout the event.
The competition began with a flag-off ceremony attended by Superintendent of Police, Tawang, D.W. Thongon, who emphasized the importance of adhering to safety protocols. Over the next two days, the cyclists navigated rigorous courses, their efforts shining a spotlight on the sport and its growing appeal in India.
The closing ceremony was graced by Brigadier V.S. Rajput, Sena Medal, Commander of the 190 Mountain Brigade, and Dr. Rinchin Neema, President of the Tawang District Olympic Association. Both dignitaries lauded the efforts of the organizers and participants, commending the event’s role in nurturing young talent and promoting cycling as a sport of national importance.
The competition featured thrilling performances across multiple categories, with notable victories by cyclists such as Kushiman Gharti from the Army Adventure Wing, Tsewang Norboo from Ladakh, and Star Narzary from Karnataka in different categories. Teams from various states and countries, including Nepal, showcased exceptional teamwork and determination.
