Raj Bhavan celebrates State, Union Territory Foundation Day
Itanagar, Nov 1: The State Foundation Day of eight States and seven Union Territories was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar, on Saturday. Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.), and the First Lady of the State, Anagha Parnaik, joined people from across these States and Union Territories in the colourful celebration.
Extending greetings, the Governor conveyed good wishes to the people of Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh, Delhi, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry on their State and Union Territory Day. He also greeted the people of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, who were part of the celebration.
Parnaik remarked that 1st November is a red-letter day in India’s history, as it marks the formation of many States and Union Territories across the country, from north to south and east to west. He highlighted the unique strengths of each State and UT while noting their shared bonds with Arunachal Pradesh.
Expressing gratitude, the Governor appreciated the contribution of people from these regions toward Arunachal Pradesh’s development. He commended the participants for their vibrant cultural presentations that reflected India’s unity in diversity.
Conveying the good wishes of the people of Arunachal Pradesh, the Governor expressed confidence that such celebrations under the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative, envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, would further strengthen national integration and deepen cultural understanding among citizens. He noted that the youth of the country are the greatest beneficiaries of this initiative, as it inspires them to appreciate and uphold India’s rich diversity.
The Governor said that ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative has reinforced the cultural vibrancy of the nation. He informed that students, who attended earlier programmes of State Foundation Day as special guests of the Governor, inspired and presented cultural items of other States. He said that this endeavour has encouraged students and youth to learn the cultural essence of other States and at the same time promoted their cultural heritage.
A large gathering comprising members of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, North Eastern Institute of Science and Technology, Rajiv Gandhi University, business community, and government departments attended the celebration.
The students of Government Primary School, B Sector, Itanagar attended as special guests of the Governor, an initiative of the Governor to encourage Government School students to inculcate the cultural essence of other States.
The Governor and the First Lady interacted warmly with the participants over high tea, marking a memorable event.
