Itanagar, Nov 15: The State Foundation Day of Uttarakhand and Jharkhand was celebrated with traditional cultural presentations at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar, on Saturday. Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.), along with the First Lady of the State, Anagha Parnaik, participated in the celebration, held under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary initiative, Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.
Parnaik greeted the people of Uttarakhand and Jharkhand living and working in Arunachal Pradesh appreciating their service and contributions, he noted that their commitment has enriched the State’s developmental journey.
Drawing warm parallels between the two States and Arunachal Pradesh, the Governor highlighted the deep cultural and geographical bonds they share. He said that Jharkhand, like Arunachal Pradesh, is a tribal State with a vibrant heritage of customs, festivals, and community life that has been preserved through generations. This common thread of tribal identity, he said, naturally brings the two regions closer in spirit and values.
He further highlighted that both Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh are nestled in the might y Himalayan range, lands shaped by its serene beauty, spiritual depth, and ecological richness.
The Governor said that the Himalayas are influenced by the landscape and also the lifestyle, beliefs, and cultural practices of people in both States. Their reverence for nature, their devotion to traditional wisdom, and the presence of many spiritual centres are a shared part of their identity, making them kindred regions connected by the mountains they call home, he said.
Speaking on the impact of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, the Governor said that the initiative has significantly strengthened national integration by bringing cultures closer and creating vibrant exchanges among young people. He expressed happiness that the youth of Arunachal Pradesh are enthusiastically embracing and showcasing the cultural richness of other States while proudly representing their own.
As a gesture of encouragement, the Governor presented letters of appreciation to the children of CK Bliss for their delightful Garba and Lavani performances during the State Foundation Day of Gujarat and Maharashtra. A similar recognition was presented to Dr. Krishna Chowlu, Scientist In-Charge at the Botanical Survey of India, Arunachal Pradesh Regional Centre, and author of the acclaimed book ‘Orchids of Arunachal Pradesh’, which documents 657 orchid species and includes more than 810 stunning photographs.
The celebration, which stood as a beautiful reminder of India’s unity in diversity, showcasing how different cultures, traditions, and communities come together to strengthen the fabric of the nation, featured a vibrant array of cultural performances. Cadets of the 1st Arunachal Pradesh NCC Battalion performed a graceful Arunachali traditional dance representing various tribes of the State, while students from Air Force School, Tezpur, captivated the audience with a spirited National Integration Dance. Ms. Tage Kanya Hano, a shining cultural ambassador of Arunachal Pradesh and founder of CK Bliss, a platform dedicated to wellness and performing arts, presented an elegant Bharatanatyam. Miss Sneh Kumari, a Class VIII student from Air Force School, Tezpur, recited her poem ‘Bachpan’.
Adding to the cultural splendour, members of the Jharkhand community working in Arunachal Pradesh presented the enchanting and iconic Jhumur dance.
The Governor and the First Lady of the State interacted with the participants over High Tea, adding a personal and gracious touch that made the celebration even more memorable.
