AALO, Dec 12: In a significant development linked to an ongoing espionage probe, Aalo Police on Wednesday night apprehended a man suspected of being part of a wider Pakistan-backed spy network operating in Arunachal Pradesh. The arrest comes just days after two alleged Pakistani agents were nabbed in Itanagar, marking yet another breakthrough in what officials describe as a deepening counter-espionage investigation.
The accused, Hilal Ahmed (26), son of Late Mohd. Sadiq Mir from Dardsun village, Kralpora in Kupwara district of Jammu & Kashmir, was picked up around 9:30 pm on December 11 from a shop he was operating at the ongoing Old Market trade fair in Aalo.
According to police sources, Hilal had moved from Naharlagun to Aalo on November 25, 2025, and was running a temporary cloth stall at the fair. His activities came under the scanner after Itanagar Police shared a crucial intelligence alert with West Siang authorities, linking him to Chimpu Police Station Case No. 81/2025—the same case under which two other Pakistani spy suspects were arrested earlier in a major crackdown.
Acting swiftly on the input, Aalo Police activated their intelligence units and discreetly monitored the area before detaining Hilal without any resistance. Initial questioning has indicated his probable involvement in the larger espionage network previously exposed by Itanagar Police in November.
Following directives from higher authorities, the suspect was formally handed over to Chimpu Police on December 12 for detailed interrogation and further legal procedures. Officials have withheld additional details, citing the sensitive and evolving nature of the investigation.
