Itanagar, Nov 23: Indigenous Publishing House (IPH), the first independent publishing house of Arunachal Pradesh, hosted a book discussion on Himbintach: Tale of a Transcended Beauty, debut book of author Lopa Rebi Kojum. The event took place at the State Museum, Itanagar, on Sunday as part of the World Heritage Week celebrations organized in collaboration with INTACH Arunachal Chapter (Convenor Oken Tayeng, MLA & Co-Convenor Kari Lombi). The event marked IPH’s first public literary programme, and served as a meaningful beginning to its literary journey.
The discussion was graced by the presence of respected voices from the state’s literary and academic community - Dr. Bompi Riba and Dr Doyir Ete, both Assistant Professors of English at Rajiv Gandhi University. Other delegates were guest of honour were Shri Tokong Pertin, former Director of Trade and Commerce and Sangeet Dubey, APCS, Director of Research.
Yumlam Tana, Deputy Director, Education Department and renowned poet and author of The Man and the Tiger - served as chief guest for the event. He highlighted the important role that the Indigenous Publishing House was playing in giving a platform to tribal voices. A brief history was also given by him on how literature in Arunachal came to be and the necessity of telling such stories as that of Himbintach. 
The tale of Himbintach is a folktale native to the Tagin tribe of Arunachal Pradesh, which was brought to life by Rebi’s narrative and the beautiful illustrations of artist Tomar Tomsai Nayam.
The Guest of Honour, Tokong Pertin in his speech also made the audience aware about the rise of Arunachal  Pradesh Literary Society (APLS) and how far its branches have spread, compared to where their roots began. 
The session was hosted by Wango Socia, currently pursuing his PhD in Hindi from Rajiv Gandhi University and moderated by Topi Bagra, serving as Guest Faculty in the Department of English at Dera Natung Government College, who ensured a smooth and coherent flow of discussion. 
The programme concluded with important pointers by Dr. Bompi Riba and Dr. Doyir Ete, whose insight and critique on the story truly helped make the event a fruitful one. Following the review, there was a Q&A session, wherein the audience participated in asking about the themes and relevance of the story. 
Indigenous Publishing House, established by Jummi Yomcha currently serving as General Secretary of APLS Delhi Branch and Creative Director Deni Lombi, extended its gratitude to all attendees and expressed hope for continued engagement in future initiatives.
