Itanagar, Nov 8: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.) graced the 53rd Raising Day ceremony of Arunachal Pradesh Police as Chief Guest at Police Training Centre, Banderdewa on Saturday. Parnaik laid a wreath at the Martyrs’ Pillar, reviewed the Raising Day Parade, commanded by Deputy Superintendent of Police Nabam Rikam, and took the salute of the marching contingents.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor greeted members of the Arunachal Pradesh Police, serving and retired, and their families. He expressed confidence that each member of the Arunachal Pradesh Police will continue to uphold their proud motto, ‘Satya, Seva, Suraksha’, that is Truth, Service, and Protection. When you offer service, you earn trust. And when you ensure protection, you strengthen the very foundation of our State, he said.
Parnaik said that Arunachal Pradesh Police has consistently demonstrated professionalism, courage, and an unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security across the State. He said that their prompt response, disciplined conduct, and people-centric approach have strengthened public trust and ensured that even in the most challenging situations, law and order remain stable, while stating that a professional, disciplined, and humane police force strengthens public trust and forms the backbone of a healthy democracy.
The Governor emphasized discipline, professionalism, and a humane and compassionate approach in policing. He said that discipline is the very bedrock of policing, which ensures honesty in action, humility in conduct, and an unwavering commitment to duty even when no one is watching. He also underscored that professionalism in policing strengthens the dignity of the uniform and empowers the police to serve with pride and excellence.
The Governor also stressed physical fitness and said that it exemplifies a good Police Force. He also emphasized that an effective police officer stands on the firm foundation of strong moral character and a clear conscience.
The Governor, while stating that it is essential for every member of the force to stay updated, well-trained, and fully familiar with the revised legal framework, called upon the officers and personnel to be well-versed about the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA). He said that these laws are designed to make the criminal justice system more responsive, humane, and aligned with the needs of a rapidly progressing nation.
Technology-savvy himself, the Governor emphasized Smart Policing and the use of the latest technologies in policing. He also called for a focus on regular orientation and training.
Drawing from his experience as an Army Commander, the Governor highlighted the need for strong welfare measures for police personnel and their families, stating that an officer can serve with full dedication only when their family’s well-being is secured.
The Governor, who gave the best Marching Contingent Trophy to Arunachal Pradesh Women Contingent, commanded by Lady Sub Inspector Tage Ami, complimented the Parade for its smart turnout, good bearing, sharp drill, and for your confidence and poise. It reflected the pride and responsibilities with which the Force conducts itself, he said.
Parnaik also presented DGP’s Commendation Disc to meritorious officers and personnel on the occasion.
State Home Minister Mama Natung, Director General of Police Anand Mohan, and Inspector General of Police (Law & Order)  Chuku Apa also spoke on the occasion.
The other highlights of the Raising the ceremony were the demonstrations of Unarmed Combat and Dog Squad, cultural presentation, and mass PT by the personnel and trainees of PTC. The Band Display by the Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, PTC, and the Silent drill were very impressive.
As part of the 53rd Raising Day celebration, the Governor inaugurated an exhibition on the implementation of the New Criminal Laws. He also inaugurated a new Classroom building, which has state-of-the-art training infrastructure and resources that will equip police personnel with the necessary skills, physical preparedness, and operational capabilities to meet modern-day law enforcement challenges and emergency response requirements.
Parnaik also flagged off mobile Forensic Vans, Interceptor vehicles, and recovery cranes on the occasion. It is the first time in Arunachal Pradesh that the Interceptor system will be put into use to track traffic offences.
Later, the Governor and dignitaries attended the Bara Khana along with senior officers of the department and SPs, and Commandants from the districts.
