ITANAGAR, Nov 13: In response to mounting allegations of corruption and irregularities in the multi-crore land compensation process related to the Lada–Sarli stretch of the Frontier Highway Project, the East Kameng Social Welfare and Cultural Organisation (EKSWCO) has formed a four-member investigation committee to conduct an independent “social inquiry.”
Announcing this at a press briefing at the Arunachal Press Club, EKSWCO General Secretary Kasung Cheda Gyadom said the committee will probe complaints of fraudulent and inflated compensation claims under packages I to V of the project.
The probe panel, led by Chopa Cheda Gyadom, includes advocate Anil Rebe, Kumar Sonam, and Tutu Dolo as members. The team will visit affected areas, interact with villagers, collect relevant documents, and verify field data to ensure an impartial and transparent investigation.
EKSWCO General Secretary, while welcoming the state government for suspension of four government officers and recommendation of the same against DC East Kameng, stated we strongly condemn the alleged misuse of public funds and called on Chief Minister Pema Khandu to ensure that the investigation reaches its logical conclusion. “The truth must prevail. No official, regardless of position, should escape accountability,” the president stated.
The General Secretary further urged the government to release compensation to genuine landowners without delay, warning that unnecessary postponement could lead to legal challenges and hinder the progress of the crucial Frontier Highway project.
