PASIGHAT, Dec 18: In a significant preparatory move for the upcoming elections, the district administration successfully concluded an intensive two-phase training programme designed to fortify the integrity and efficiency of the vote-counting process. Held at the DC’s Conference Hall, the comprehensive sessions meticulously equipped Counting Supervisors, Counting Assistants, candidates, and polling agents with standardized procedures and best practices.
The first phase, conducted on December 17, focused on thecounting process of Panchayati Raj elections. Presided over by Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) Yanki Jamoh and  Oter Gao, the session instilled strict protocols for the counting personnel. The AROs issued unequivocal directives, underscoring the non-negotiable principles of clarity, absolute transparency, and operational precision throughout the counting exercise. Expert training was delivered by a panel of master trainers, including Kasep Tayom, Dr. Romeo Dupak and Dr. A.K. Thakur who covered both theoretical and practical aspects of the process.
The training advanced on December 18 with a specialized module for the Pasighat Municipal Council elections. Led by Master Trainers  Alakesh Phukan and Bapu Tabing, this phase employed detailed PowerPoint presentations followed by hands-on, practical demonstrations using Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). This method provided participants with a clear, step-by-step visual and practical understanding of the entire counting sequence.
Demonstrating a firm commitment to inclusive and open elections, the initial segment of this session was exclusively devoted to sensitizing all contesting councilor candidates and their polling agents. This proactive engagement ensured that all stakeholders were thoroughly familiar with the established protocols, thereby building essential trust and preempting procedural disputes.
Municipal Returning Officer, Tatling Pertin, addressed the assembled officials and candidates, offering strong reassurances for the counting day on December 20. "The sanctity of the electoral process is our foremost priority. The sealed EVMs will be opened explicitly in the presence of the candidates and their agents, guaranteeing a process that is clear, transparent, and seamlessly executed," he affirmed. The session was also attended by PMC Election observer Sibo Passing and Yamo Tamut, the Assistant Municipal Returning Officer. DIPRO
