Itanagar, Dec 31: The first Donyi Polo Day, soon after being declared a local holiday by the Government of Arunachal Pradesh, was observed across the State with religious fervour and spiritual solemnity.
In all districts, Donyi Polo Day was celebrated with enthusiasm, with observances largely centred on spiritual reflection and indigenous faith practices. Prayer sessions were organised in all ‘kumkos’ and other prayer centres, where devotees gathered to mark the occasion.
The observance of Donyi Polo Day commenced with spiritual prayers for the well-being of the entire universe and for harmonious coexistence of humankind with nature, reflecting the core values of the indigenous faith.
Eminent speakers and resource persons were invited to deliberate on the significance of Donyi Polo Day, highlighting its spiritual, cultural, and philosophical essence. The life and teachings of Golgi Bote Talom Rukbo ,who is also considered as the founder of Donyi-Poloism was elucidated during the celebrations
Cultural presentations by various groups also formed an integral part of the celebrations held across Arunachal Pradesh.
Meanwhile, the President, Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society of Arunachal Pradesh (IFCSAP), Dr. Emi Rumi, and the Secretary, IFCSAP, Maya Murtem, extending gratitude to the Government of Arunachal Pradesh for declaring December 31, as Donyi-Polo Day.
While extending warm greetings to the indigenous people of the State they called upon the people to utilise the day to reconnect with their spiritual roots, reaffirm their faith, and work collectively towards the preservation and promotion of the State’s rich traditions and cultural heritage.
