ITANAGAR, Nov 11: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has strongly criticized the ruling BJP government, alleging that the safety and dignity of students in schools and colleges across the state have been gravely compromised due to administrative negligence and poor governance.
In a sharply worded press release issued by APCC President Bosiram Siram, he expressed deep concern over the rising cases of rape, murder, molestation, violence and repeated law-and-order breakdowns in various educational institutions. He said the situation has reached a critical and distressing level, accusing the BJP government of turning places of learning into unsafe environments for students.
The APCC statement said that these disturbing incidents are the direct result of weak institutional administration, collapsed vigilance mechanisms and the failure of responsible oversight under the present government. “Educational institutions, which must be secure spaces for learning and moral development, are now turning into unsafe environments due to negligence and lack of accountability,” the statement read.
Calling the situation alarming and unacceptable, the Congress alleged that instead of protecting the future of the youth, the government has allowed indiscipline, disorder and criminal acts to proliferate within educational spaces. “The continuous deterioration is distressing and deeply worrying. The government’s inaction is a betrayal of the future of our children,” Siram said.
The APCC has demanded immediate government intervention to restore safety, strengthen law and order, ensure accountability within institutions, and provide counselling and preventive awareness systems for students. It also urged the government to strictly enforce vigilance, monitoring and safety protocols in all schools and colleges across the state.
“If the government continues to ignore this alarming trend, it will amount to betraying the future of our children. Student safety, dignity and well-being must be treated as the highest priority,” the statement added.
