Eastern Sentinel Arunachal News

Lok Sabha Member of Parliament of our state Ninong Ering during the launch of Startup India Arunachal Pradesh Yatra on Monday has appealed to the entrepreneurship minded Arunachalee youths to make their dream realize by taking the full benefits of Startup India scheme, a flagship initiative by the Government of India for generation of employment and wealth creation, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January 2016. It is worthy to mention here that our Governor Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) had mooted the same issue at the Foundation Day celebrations of Rajiv Gandhi University earlier this month.

Startup is now a buzzword these days and has surely captured the imagination of our youths who are ready to step into a life beyond ‘10 am to 5 pm’ and till now it had proved to be a solid influencer.

Before evaluating the efficacies of the policy of promoting this scheme, it is necessary to go through the circumstances which prompted it. It is not hard to understand. India is simply not creating enough jobs for its young people. Industries that were the seedbeds of jobs, ranging from   textiles, leather, metals, automobiles, transport, are hiring too little or even downsizing their manpower in a struggle to stay afloat. And government jobs are always limited, in any context, central or state. With this the reality, Startup seem to be the shining light, practically speaking.

The very idea of Startup is novel in the sense it attempts to free our would-be entrepreneurs from falling into the quagmire of red-tapism when one had to run from pillar to post to get projects approved and loans sanctioned. The single window approach ensures a total ease of doing business promising comforts of easy fund, patent procurement and tax holidays among the other essentials.

For our Arunachal youths, this new avenue no doubt holds a lot of promise. In a state still in the process of building infrastructure with no encouraging signs of solid capital investments, starting small may be a good option.

Our thrust areas might be on those which are exclusively and uniquely ours and essentially tribal in charactersuch as weaving & handlooms, cane and bamboo work, carpets, wood carving, ornaments etc. These sectors are somehow disorganised but are potential game changers. With the aura of professionalism which our young Startup venturers can provide, these products are sure to win the huge pan Indian and overseas market.

There is no dearth of innovative power in our boys and girls, nor there is lack of positive energy. A little more patronage and regular professional guidance by way of workshops and symposia etc from the corporate world will go a long way in catapulting our lads to the win-win positions.
