NAMSAI, Feb 12: In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Namsai Police seized approximately 133 grams of suspected heroin during a targeted operation in the trolley line area of Namsai, leading to the arrest of a 45-year-old woman.
Acting on reliable source information received on February 11 at around 3:30 PM, the police team launched a search operation after following all due legal procedures. During the operation, Sarana Yoya (45), wife of Anseng Yoya and a resident of 2nd Mile, Namsai, was apprehended.
Based on her disclosure and in strict compliance with legal formalities, the police recovered eleven plastic soap cases containing a yellow-orange powder suspected to be heroin from nearby bushes. The accused was formally arrested on February 12 under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The seized contraband, estimated to be worth approximately ₹7 lakh in the illicit market, was properly weighed, marked, sealed, and seized in the presence of independent witnesses. The entire process was videographed to ensure transparency and adherence to legal protocols.
The operation was conducted by a team led by Shri Kengo Dirchi, SDPO Namsai, and Inspector A.K. Pandey, along with L/SI Luja Singpho, L/Ct. R.Z. Longri, Ct. J. Krong, and Ct. N. Gangsa, under the supervision of Shri Sange Thinley, APPS, Superintendent of Police, Namsai.
A case has been registered at MNS Police Station vide Case No. 05/26 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. Further investigation is currently underway to ascertain the source and possible network involved in the trafficking.
Namsai Police reiterated its firm commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and appealed to the public to cooperate by sharing credible information to help.
