Naharlagun, Sep 3: The ICR Police, Naharlagun, has busted a major job fraud racket with the arrest of a woman identified as Gollo Laxmi, a resident of Helipad, Naharlagun. The accused had allegedly posed as an NGO worker and lured unemployed youths with promises of jobs in positions such as nurses, data entry operators, and security guards.
Acting on a written complaint, police launched an investigation which revealed that Laxmi had collected amounts ranging from `4,000 to `10,000 from at least 66 job aspirants, swindling a total of `3,36,000. A case has been registered at Naharlagun Police Station under NLG/PS/Case No. 113/25 U/S 318(4) BNS, and the accused has been produced before the Court.
Superintendent of Police, ICR Naharlagun, Dr. Nyelam Nega, has cautioned students and job seekers against falling prey to such scams. He urged youths to remain vigilant and to pursue only genuine and verified employment opportunities.
