Itanagar, Sep 7: The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR) has expressed its appreciation for the prompt intervention and coordinated efforts of the Namsai Police, under the leadership of the Superintendent of Police, Namsai District, and the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Namsai, following the recent rescue of 32 children reportedly found in circumstances involving child trafficking and exploitation.
The Commission appreciated the police authorities and the Child Welfare Committee for their prompt action in ensuring the rescue, safety and protection of the children and for initiating necessary action under law.
The Chairperson, APSCPCR, Ratan Anya, personally spoke with the Superintendent of Police, Namsai District, Sangey Thinley, and C.T. Singkai, Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee, Namsai.
The APSCPCR had earlier taken suo motu cognizance of the reported child trafficking case in Namsai, in which children were reportedly rescued from different parts of Arunachal Pradesh and suspected facilitators/brokers were arrested. The Commission had sought an Action Taken Report from the Superintendent of Police, Namsai, and had also received the status report from the CWC, Namsai.
While appreciating the rescue operation, the Chairperson, APSCPCR, has emphasised that rescue of children is only the beginning of the process. The entire network behind the trafficking and exploitation of children must be identified and investigated thoroughly.
Anya has urged the SP, Namsai, to undertake a deep, comprehensive and evidence-based investigation to identify all persons involved in the trafficking and exploitation of children, including brokers, facilitators, employers and any other persons who may have knowingly participated in or facilitated the movement, transportation, harbouring, employment or exploitation of children.
