Chongkham, Jul 23: In a significant breakthrough, Chongkham Police arrested two individuals involved in the use of a fake Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) to fraudulently secure a position in the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), 64th Battalion, Barama Camp, Howly, Assam.
The case, registered as Chongkham PS Case No. 30/2024 U/S 468/471 IPC, was lodged by K. Loya, CO-cum-Executive Magistrate, Chongkham, after the SSB authorities flagged the forged PRC during verification.
The first accused, Dheeraj Kumar of Gunauli village, Auraiya District (Uttar Pradesh), was apprehended from the SSB Camp at Howly (Assam) within a week of FIR registration.
The co-accused, Shivam Parihar alias Nagendra Singh of Banshi village, PS Achhalda, Auraiya District (U.P.), had been absconding but was finally traced and arrested from his native village on July 19.
A dedicated police team comprising SI Aditya Chandra, SI(SG) M. Prasad, and SI(SG) D.K. Singh travelled to Uttar Pradesh and executed the operation successfully.
Sange Thinley, SP Namsai, lauded the team’s commitment and professionalism in bringing the culprits to justice.
The Namsai District Police reiterated its resolve to maintain the rule of law and ensure that no one escapes the consequences of fraudulent activities.
