ITANAGAR, June 3: The All Upper Siang District Students’ Union (AUSDSU) has made a fervent appeal to the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, seeking urgent intervention to address the persistent lack of mobile and internet connectivity in six remote villages of Upper Siang district.
In a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister’s Office, the student body requested the immediate installation of mobile towers and internet infrastructure in the villages of Sibiun, Katan, Jeru, Sumsing, Silli, and Geying.
Speaking to the reporters at a press conference today, the AUSDSU stated that the residents in these areas have endured years of digital exclusion, severely impacting their access to essential services.
The AUSDSU further stated that, the issue has remained unresolved despite repeated representations, peaceful rallies, and even a symbolic foot march from Geku to Yingkiong.
“This prolonged digital blackout continues to isolate entire communities from educational opportunities, healthcare access, and economic growth,” the union stated.
The AUSDSU emphasized that in today's digital age, connectivity is no longer a luxury but a fundamental requirement. They urged the Chief Minister to personally direct concerned departments and telecom operators to expedite the setup of reliable and uninterrupted mobile and internet services in the affected areas.
