NAMSAI, Sep 18: A serious case of sexual harassment has been reported at the Arunachal University of Studies (AUS), Namsai, where a final-year B. Pharmacy student has accused her lecturer of sexually assaulting her.
In her written complaint to the Officer-in-Charge of Namsai Police Station, the victim narrated that on September 17, after clarifying her examination queries on campus, Prasenjit Das allegedly called her later in the evening and directed her to his residence under the pretext of assisting her with pending industrial training and thesis work.
Upon reaching his residence, the student alleged that the lecturer made inappropriate advances, including attempts to kiss and grope her, despite her repeated refusals. She further stated that he blocked the door to prevent her from leaving and pressured her to accompany him into the bedroom. Meanwhile, the Tai Khamti Youth Organisation (TKYO) has taken strong exception to the incident and submitted a formal complaint to the Vice-Chancellor of AUS. In its letter, TKYO expressed deep concern over the safety and dignity of students, particularly female students, within the University premises.
