Deomali, Jan 13: A state-level review meeting of all Superintending Engineers from various circles of the Public Health Engineering & Water Supply (PHE&WS) Department was held at Deomali under the chairmanship of the Chief Engineer (PHE&WS), Eastern Zone, Er. Tomo Basar. The meeting was attended by Superintending Engineers from seven circles, Executive Engineers from eight districts, and technical experts from the PHE&WS Department.
While welcoming the participants, the Superintending Engineer, Miao Circle, Er. Marter Riba, highlighted the aims and objectives of the meeting. The Chief Engineer, Eastern Zone, and Director, PMU (Health Infrastructure), Er. Tomo Basar, reviewed the progress of ongoing health infrastructure projects under the PHE&WS Department. He emphasised the importance of close coordination with the Health & Family Welfare Department, particularly in the effective implementation of health infrastructure projects.
Er. Basar further highlighted that the implementation of the mega Water Treatment Plant (WTP) project, integrated with the Tourism Department, would not only help the government generate revenue but also create employment opportunities for local unemployed youth through tourism-related activities. He informed that the project is one of its kind in the state, as it is integrated with value-added tourism components.
The Chief Engineer urged all Superintending Engineers and Executive Engineers to conduct regular monitoring meetings to ensure timely and proper implementation of projects, while maintaining prescribed quality standards.
The day-long meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by the Executive Engineer (PHE&WS), Khonsa, Er. Bharat Sonam, who expressed his gratitude to the Chief Engineer, Eastern Zone, for choosing Deomali and the project site as the venue for the review meeting. He also thanked all Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers, and other officials for their active participation.
