Tuting, Jun 5: Nearly a month later, road connectivity to the Tuting Sub-Division which was completely severed due to massive landslides triggered by incessant rainfall at multiple locations along the Janbo to Migging stretch was re-opened for traffic today. The disruption has paralyzed normal life for the residents of the region.
According to a report from Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Tuting, Pandov Perme, the continuous road blockage has caused severe hardships for the public. For the past 20 days, road communication has been entirely cut off, forcing daily commuters—many with urgent personal or official commitments—to traverse the treacherous jungle footpath from Singging village to Palling [ stretch of area which is yet to be connected by road ] on foot for around four hours alongside left bank of Siang river to reach district headquarters at Yingkiong.
The situation is further aggravated by the shortage of essential commodities, including petroleum, oil, and lubricants (POL), which have been completely unavailable since May 14. This shortage has also affected mobile network operations, adding more difficulties for the residents.
Yet in an unfortunate incident  on 3rd June, LPG carrier truck with empty cylinders while returning back from Tuting was swept off the road by a landslide and fell into a ditch in between Migging to Mosing, under Tuting subdivision. Fortunately, no loss of lives has been reported.
Adding to the crisis, the district headquarters at Yingkiong has been without electricity for the last three days. Landslides along the Janbo to Bomdo road have damaged electric poles, disrupting power supply and further impacting normal lives of the denizens. The Electrical Dept, Yingkiong have deployed manpower and machinery to expedite restoration efforts. However, persistent inclement weather continues to hamper progress, making it difficult to restore the power.
Meanwhile, the District Administration is closely monitoring the situation in coordination with Commander,761 BRTF(BRO) and  Electrical Department, Yingkiong in restoration work and appealed public cooperation and patience, assuring that all efforts are being made on a war footing to restore essential services and normalcy in the affected areas.
