Itanagar, Jul 3: In a significant step towards reaching out to the Children with Special Needs(CWSNs ) that have been assessed during the Autism Month celebration in April this year, a three-day Aadhaar enrolment camp was organised by Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR) in collaboration with the Department of Economics and Statistics Yupia, Papumpare. The camp was held from July 1-3 at various locations with an aim to cover all the CWSNs who are registered in various Special Schools and Therapy Centers in Itanagar Capital Region jurisdiction and nearby places.
During the Autism Month Celebration, total CWSNs registered for the programme was 182 out of which 112 CWSNs were issued Person with Disability Certificates and 14 CWSNs received UDID Card. The remaining left out were facilitated to get Aadhaar card enrolled in the Registration Camp held, enabling them to get UDID issued by the Department of Health and Family Welfare.
Recognizing the unique needs of CWSNs and the challenges they often face in regular Aadhaar enrollment center, this Aadhaar Enrollment Camp was organized to facilitate CWSNs that were unable to complete the Aadhaar enrollment process at regular centers due to sensory sensitivities, communication difficulties and lack of conducive environment suited to their need. The camp also aimed at ensuring every child regardless of physical or cognitive ability is granted access to identification and the various entiltlements, schemes, benefits, and services linked to Aadhaar. The 3(three) days Aadhaar registration Camp culminated with good participation of CWSNs, in total 25 CWSNs were benefited from the camp.
The Chairperson of the Child Rights Commission also expressed her sincere gratitude to the Stakeholders for their valuable collaboration and successful conduction of the program. The initiative was praised by parents and caregivers alike, who appreciated the hassle-free and cost-free service that allowed their children to be enrolled for an Aadhaar.
